    Teacher-student sexual relationships lack balance of power, state educator says

    Though the constitutionality of a state law forbidding student-school employee sexual relationships is being challenged in court, a state education leader said the law is “necessary to prevent abuse of power.” Three north Alabama coaches within the past month have been charged with having sexual relations with students under the age of 19. Decatur High teacher and cheerleader coach Carrie Witt is accused of having sex with two students, while East Limestone High assistant football coaches Trey Stinson and Devin Robinson each face one charge of having a sexual relationship with a student.
