No students in his current job have come forward with any allegations. He is innocent until proven guilty. Why did these other kids wait so long????

  4. Well the only evidence I have heard is these kids word against his. This man lives near me and I have a very hard time believing he did since there only evidence they have is these kids testimony. They waited a very long time. It makes me wonder what there motivations are. Money? Power? The sheriffs department to make a name for themselves. The way the came to get the guy was really messed up as well. During school in front of students having a news helicopter. They had secretly been investigating this for a month with out any knowledge? This sounds super sketchy. If this is not true the accuser should be punished.

  5. I think it's important to remember there are always two sides to every story but only one truth. I don't think the time it takes for someone to come forward should indicate the validity of their story. I personally know multiple women who have been raped by men they know that have chosen not to report the crimes. If they changed their minds today and decided to report the crimes that happen 10+ years ago, that doesn't mean they are lying about it or that it didn't happen. I cannot even begin to imagine the courage it would take for someone, let alone a young man, to admit and voice they were violated by a grown man when they were a child. Middle school students can be easily intimidated. No wonder so few sexual assaults are reported when everyone's first instinct is to think the victims are lying. I can imagine a lot of people just think "What's the point? Is it worth rehashing everything, going through the embarrassment and humiliation all over again?" and decide to keep their mouths shut while the violators get away with it all.

Likewise, those accused may be the victims depending on circumstances. Unfortunately, not everyone is honest. But until you know both sides and see the evidence (which they have to have in order to make an arrest), it's not fair to argue one side without at least recognizing the other side may be right.

Trey Gardner is an amazing father, teacher, friend, brother, and son. He is a very honest and caring Christian who would never hurt a child. These allegations must have been derived by some small town individuals who wanted to drag a wonderful person's name through the mud. The media has completely ruined this person's reputation and family name by their ugly perception of these so called "allegations". If you knew anything about Trey, you would know this is completely and utterly ridiculous. I pray for those who have ostracized this situation and that the truth will come out of his innocence.

You just wait,,there will be more. I know who the victim is and my kids also had this teacher. The answer to your question is probably SHAME for what a pervert did who had great control over them. You don't know the details of the victims life so get off of your soapbox. Would you feel wonderful to know you are judging someone who has been victimized and had it affect their life all the way to the point that they came to know Christ and are attempting to turn their lives around?? By the way, many a criminal and many a serial killer has seemed like just outstanding, wonderful people. Perverts are drawn to jobs where they can interact with children. It makes me sick to realize that a classmate of my child has had this happen.

You never really know people, you will not believe the truth unless it is what you want to hear. You are reaching to think anyone would want to be in the middle of this for any reason but to bring evil deeds to light. Sure,a young person from 10 years ago who lives in a different town wants some fun being in the middle of a trial about horrible things that happened to them. I am sorry for his family, but I am sorrier for the victims whose life will permanently be altered by Mr. Gardners abuse. You can only pray for the truth, not specificly what you want the truth to be.

You might want to know the facts of the case before you determine if he is guilty or innocent. Its sad that we have already determined this guys guilt in the court of public opinion, before he ever enters a real court. In the United States, YOUR INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY. All the Public really knows is 2 people have accused him of sex charges. The police department claims to have 24 counts of evidence against Mr. Gardner. Most intelligent people know the police lie and distort evidence to get what they want. Some of you only want to hear that this guy is guilty or want him to be guilty.

  10. THIS IS WHY WE NEED EVIDENCE TO PROVE GUILT FOR EXAMPLES LIKE THIS! This story broke right after the Sandusky case. Bernie Fine was the Assistant coach at Syracuse University. Zach Tomaselli lied that he was sexually abused and we found out it never happened, later. We need to prevent things like this from happening. The liar should get a around 5 years in a state prision or more. Someone who would do something like this is deceptive. Those who would do this need to be held accountable for their actions. We see these false child sexual abuse more and more happening and it needs to end.

In the case of Richard Trey Gardner they need to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he is guilty. They need something besides a kids testimony, and eyewitness, a letter, a email.

IF THEY ARE TRULY GUILTY THEY SHOULD BE PUNISHED BUT FIND OUT THE FACTS BEFORE THROWING SOMEONE INTO THE FIRE.

Bernie Fine Accuser Admits He Lied About Sexual Abuse
    NCAA, SYRACUSE | COMMENTS

Zach Tomaselli, who accused former Syracuse assistant coach Bernie Fine of sexual abuse, admitted Friday that he has been lying for months, according to CNY Central.
“It has become a burden of a lie and I am sick of it,” Tomaselli told CNY Central. “Bobby Davis told me what to tell detectives and it pretty much took off from there. The evidence that supports me is just pure luck, not real evidence. I made the ENTIRE thing up. I have never met Bernie in my life.
“It was a game to me. It was fun trying to make this story come alive. I was told by [former Syracuse ball boy] Bobby Davis what kind of porn Bernie likes. So I would add we were watching lesbian porn and going on and on. But, it didn’t pan out because of my school records, there was a hole I didn’t fill.
“I NEVER met Bernie fine or went to an autograph session. I sat in the nosebleeds at the Pitt game at the dome in 03 but that is it. I lied.”
As for why he lied for so long, Tomaselli wrote to CNY Central: “I don’t have feelings most of the time. I just hate people without caring.”
Tomaselli said his lie was motivated by a deep dislike for the Syracuse Orange because they beat his favorite Kansas Jayhawks in the 2003 championship game, according to CNY Central.
Fine was fired by Syracuse in November amid the allegations of Tomaselli and Davis, who also accused Fine of sexual abuse.

AND PEOPLE WONDER WHY VICTIMS DON'T WANT TO COME FORWARD,,of course he needs a trial, some people do know more about this than others. I am not about to say or do anything that would expose information about this case before the people in charge move it along. My daughter has a masters in psychology and I see know why victims are reluctant to come forward--because they will be hated and attacked. Maybe if your child (and by this I mean all who want to dump on the victims)was the victim you would take a different stand. As for your last statement, I don't want anyone to be "guilty" I wish he WASN"T guilty and that would mean that there were less molested children in the world.

We do not know he is guilty. We don't know he is innocent either. We need EVIDENCE to prove beyond A REASONABLE DOUBT that he did it or did not do it.

The previous anonymous response is unlikely to be from a well-versed lawyer. The prosecution must prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he committed the crime. Nobody (least of all the defendant) has to prove that he "did not do it". The defense need only cast reasonable doubt on the prosecution's case.

This happened over ten years ago? Okay. Why now? Did they tell their family first, or just go straight to the police? It is just ODD.
All can think about is the fact that Trey Gardner's career is ruined, even if they do find out that it is all lies. He has small children of his own, and I cannot imagine what his family is going through. If he hurt these boys, he should be punished. If they are lying, Gardner's life is forever changed.

  17. Actually its not odd at all. Many children who are abused are in unfortunate home life situations. They are preyed on because they are easy targets. These kids often go through rocky lives after a trusted adult has molested them. It takes some maturing and distance for the victim to learn that it should not have happened and to want to turn their live around and protect others from having this happen. It also takes BRAVERY to face what is happening right here on this site. If all these people had their way perverts would never face up to the damage they inflicted on children, just so they could have peace of mind.

I really hope this man did not do this. He seems to be a great community member. He goes to my church. My son has played over at his house many times. I feel very sorry for his family. I really really hope he is innocent. however both involved will be forever changed no matter what the verdict is.

  19. I have known Trey for years and was his teacher many years ago. I agree with those that say he is not quilty until there is overwhelming proof. The press has already ruined his life and that of his family no matter what the results. I have never seen anything but a loving father, husband and caring teacher and I am sick that all the publicity has already convicted him.

I can't imagine him doing what he is accused of. My son is the same age that the accusers claim they were when these sex crime allegations happened. My son has spent a good amount of time around him with sports and at our church. We have never had a problem.
