Daily Iberian: Alleged victim reveals identity (Nov 26 2013) Phillip LeBourgeois, 25, said he was a minor attending Catholic High when he was abused by his former teacher, Paula Latiolais. “I wanted to come forward and reveal my identity today to let other individuals who have or who are being victimized know that it is OK to come forward and contact authorities,” LeBourgeois read from a statement at a press conference at the Lafayette office of his lawyer, L. Clayton Burgess. The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Latiolais, 48, 114 E. Curtis Drive, Friday after investigators gathered information that indicated she had sexual encounters with a male student 10 years ago, according to a prepared statement from the Sheriff’s Office. The victim was approximately 15 years old at the time of the alleged molestation, according to the statement, and investigators allege the incidents continued for several years. Latiolais was booked into the Iberia Parish Jail Friday and released the same day on $35,000 bail, according to jail records ... Burgess confirmed LeBourgeois reported Latiolais to the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office only recently. However, he did not provide any other details about the alleged abuse or investigation.
GUILTY July 1, 2015 According to documents maintained in the public record Paula Latiolais pleads no contest to the sex offense, Felony Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile. The former Catholic High School and Westgate teacher was arrested last year in connection with the alleged offense.
