Investigators learned back in July 2013, McDaniel had a possible inappropriate relationship with a former student. The allegations of sexual misconduct, did not appear to have occurred during the time the victim was a student of McDaniel's.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office began looking into the allegations which involved a teacher at the Grand Ridge Middle School. As a result of the on-going investigation an eighth grade teacher identified as Patrick Kyle McDaniel, age 32, was charged with a single count of lewd and lascivious battery upon a minor child between the ages of twelve and sixteen.This investigation has revealed that this inappropriate sexual contact began occurring in July 2013. The victim was McDaniel's former student at Grand Ridge Middle School; however, the allegations of sexual misconduct did not appear to have occurred during the time the victim was a student of McDaniel's. McDaniel was taken into custody at the conclusion of the school day, November 14, 2013, and will be first appeared on Friday, November 15, 2013. This investigation was a cooperative effort of the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, The Florida Department of Law Enforcement, The Office of the State Attorney, 14th Judicial Circuit, and the Jackson County School Board.

According to the affidavit, McDaniel had oral sex with a 15-year-old girl more than 10 times over the past 3 months. During today's bond hearing, the judge ordered him to have no contact with the Sneads High School student.

According to the affidavit, the victim and McDaniel engaged in oral sex and digital penetration more than ten times at her parents house and/or or McDaniels house. A search of McDaniels cell phone revealed evidence of the relationship ... The victim, now a student of Sneads High School, was once a student of McDaniels at Grand Ridge Middle School.

Charged with one count of lewd and lascivious battery upon a minor child between the ages of 12 and 16, 32-year-old Patrick Kyle McDaniel made his first appearance in court Friday morning ... an investigation began after school officials provide information concerning possible allegations of an inappropriate relationship between a student and a teacher in the district. Officials eventually charged McDaniel in the case. According to the narrative complaint filed against McDaniel, the sexual encounters allegedly occurred over a three month period and that material obtained from McDaniel’s phone indicated evidence of a relationship between the two. The victim, officials said, had been a former student of McDaniel’s at Grand Ridge Middle School but officials said the alleged sexual misconduct did not occur during the time the victim was his student.
