Police arrested 29-year-old Megan Denman Monday. The Hoover High School teacher is accused of three felony charges including sex with a minor. Police said the inappropriate relationship was still going on when they arrested Denman. "The student was under 18 years old when the actions took place and the victim was a student at Hoover High School," said Sgt. Nina Jacobs with the Fresno Police Department. Police didn't release many more details citing the ongoing investigation, but said the investigation began April 5 after a patrol officer learned of the allegations and notified detectives. Denman was taken into custody four days later.

The officer thought the car might be stolen, and questioned the teenager -- who then revealed details of a sexual relationship with his teacher in 2011, before his 18th birthday. He also showed officers suggestive text messages from Denman. [Megan Denman's attorney, Roger] Nuttall described Denman as a mentor to the alleged victim. According to an affidavit by police detective Alfred Lopez Jr., police pulled over the student driving Denman's 2002 silver Saturn. Police thought the student was driving a stolen car. Officers soon discovered the car key had been "shaved," or altered, the affidavit said. When questioned, the student said he was a Hoover High School student who was involved in a sexual relationship with Denman, the affidavit said. The student said the affair began in the summer of 2011, when he was 17 years old, and that he would go to Denman's apartment to engage in sex in her bedroom, the affidavit said. While being questioned, the student allowed police to view his cellphone, which had text messages from Denman that read: "I love you" and "I miss you," the affidavit stated. The student was cited for driving without a license and without proof of insurance and released. In texting the student, Denman used the name "Buddy," the affidavit stated. Because Denman was with her husband in Hawaii, police called her using a phone number listed as "Buddy," the affidavit said. In a telephone conversation, Denman identified herself to a police officer and said she gave the student permission to drive her car, the affidavit said. After returning from Hawaii, Denman talked to police again and "admitted to having a sexual relationship" with the student, starting in the summer of 2011, the affidavit said. She also allowed police to inspect her cellphone, which the affidavit said contained text messages from "Buddy." She admitted to using "Buddy" when sending text messages to the student.

A Hoover High School social studies teacher arrested in April pleaded guilty Wednesday to six felony charges of having sex with an underage student. Megan Denman, 30, could face jail time when she is sentenced in January, said her lawyer, Roger Nuttall. He hopes she will get probation. Denman plead guilty in Fresno County Superior Court to three counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor and three counts of oral copulation with a minor. The boy was 17 at the time. Judge Ralph Nunez has ruled out prison but will decide whether she serves jail time or must register as a sex offender, Nuttall said.
