Lakewood High Teacher Charged With Lewd Conduct With Student

Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey announced today that a woman has been charged with having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a teen over the span of three years at Lakewood High School. Mary Jahn, 52, of Lakewood has been charged with nine felony counts — four counts of sexual penetration by foreign object, three counts of lewd act upon a child and two counts of oral copulation of a person younger than 18. Deputy DA Troy Davis, who works with the Victims Impact Program, said Jahn was a Lakewood High teacher when the incidents are alleged to have occurred.

In July 2008, the defendant allegedly began having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old female student, the prosecutor said. The sexual molestation reportedly continued until July 2011.

The victim, now an adult, alerted authorities about the abuse. Long Beach Police Department detectives investigated further, and arrested Jahn Wednesday, Sept. 13.

If convicted of all the charges, Jahn faces a maximum of 8 years and 4 months in prison. She also would have to register as a lifetime sex offender.

Lakewood High Teacher Accused Of 3-Year Relationship With Student

A 52-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday on allegations she had a three-year sexual relationship with a female student while a teacher at Lakewood High School. Mary Jahn of Lakewood was taken into custody on four felony counts of sexual penetration with a foreign object, three counts of lewd acts upon a child and two counts of oral copulation with a person under 18.

Jahn began a sexual relationship with a then 15-year-old girl in July 2008, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office. The relationship continued through July 2011. The victim did not report the alleged molestation to authorities until earlier this year, the DA said.

Jahn worked as an English teacher at Lakewood High School from 2006 until May 11, when she was placed on leave at the outset of an investigation, according to a statement released by the Long Beach Unified School District. Jahn will be arraigned in Los Angeles County Superior Court in Long Beach Thursday afternoon. Prosecutors are asking she be held on $750,000 bail. If convicted, she faces a maximum sentence of eight years and four months in state prison.

Former Lakewood High School Teacher Arrested for Having Sex With a Minor

A 52-year-old former Lakewood High School teacher was charged with having sex with an underage girls from 2008-’11, Los Angeles County prosecutors announced today.

According to prosecutors, Mary Jahn began having sex with a 15-year-old female student in July 2008 continuing through July 2011.

Jahn was charged with nine felony counts: four counts of sexual penetration by foreign object, three counts of lewd acts upon a child and two counts of oral copulation of a person under 18, according to authorities.

Jahn was a teacher at Lakewood High School at the time of the reported crimes. Prosecutors said the the now-adult victim alerted authorities about the sexual abuse earlier this year. Long Beach police officers arrested Jahn on Wednesday after an investigation. Jahn is scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon at the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Long Beach Branch. If convicted as charged, Jahn faces a maximum possible sentence of eight years and four months in state prison.

Former Student Claims Teacher Physically, Sexually Abused Her As A Teenager

A Southern California woman claimed in court Tuesday that a female teacher had sexually and physically abused her for years, warned her to keep silent and even carved her initials into the student's hip, according to reports.

The unnamed former Lakewood High School student testified that former English teacher Mary Jahn began having sex with her in 2009 when she was 15 years old. A judge ruled during the hearing that sufficient evidence existed to put the former educator on trial for nine felony charges.

Jahn, 52, has adamantly denied all the accusations, her attorney Leonard B. Levine said.

The former student, who is now 24 years old, alleged that Jahn sexually abused her over a four-year span, with such acts including bondage, flogging, and pouring hot wax on her.

Jahn, who was arrested by Long Beach police on Sept. 13, was charged with four counts of sexual penetration by a foreign object, three counts of lewd acts upon a child and two counts of oral copulation of a minor. If convicted, she could face up to eight years and four months in state prison and will become a registered sex offender. Jahn taught at Lakewood High from 2006 until May when she was put on leave, according to the Long Beach Press-Telegram.

She testified that Jahn had first taken an interest in her after the former student uploaded an essay online about her attraction to females.

The student said she began to cut ties with Jahn at age 19 and went to the police last May after talking to a friend about the situation.

"The more that I talked, the less that I could defend her any more and the more I started to see things clearly,” the woman said.

However, the student said she that she wasn’t prepared to discuss the matter at the time which led to the school district dropping the complaint after Jahn denied the accusations.

A former teacher at Lakewood High School was convicted of child molestation Friday for carrying on a three-year sexual relationship with a student, officials said. Mary Jahn, 53, of Lakewood pleaded “no contest” to a single count of committing a lewd act on a child, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office said in a written statement.

The conviction was the result of a negotiated plea agreement, officials said.
