The Hopewell High School student testified Thursday about two years of interactions she had with her science teacher, including text messages and physical contact, during Joseph A. Rubino’s preliminary hearing at the Beaver County Courthouse. The girl, now 18, testified that Rubino was her ninth-grade teacher, but he began sending her text messages her sophomore year. She said she sent him pictures three times. The girl said Rubino also had physical contact with her in his school classroom, which she did not want. At the beginning of the current school year, she said she threatened to turn in Rubino. In response, he hit her in the face. In exchange for the pictures and physical contact, the girl said Rubino helped her with her schoolwork and gave her school clothing.
