Greg Staton is charged with sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl back on July 2nd. Investigators say it happened in Santa Rosa County, which is near Pensacola. Investigators also confirmed they believe Staton met the girl on-line. The U.S. Marshals Office arrested Staton last week at his home in Fairfield. Tags:
News Leader: Former Kate Collins teacher remains jailed on sex charges (July 9 2013) Officers from the United States Marshals Service arrested Staton on July 3 in Fairfield, but not after he fled from a hotel in the Florida panhandle, where he had traveled to meet a 15-year-old girl, according to the U.S. Marshals Service. The alleged sexual assault took place July 2, authorities said. The U.S. Marshals Service said it appears that Staton and the girl arranged to meet at a hotel in Navarre, Fla., where the girl was vacationing with her family ... Santa Rosa authorities also believe that Staton and the girl had been in contact via the Internet for a year, and said it appears that Staton and the teen met in Texas prior to the alleged Florida incident.
NBC 29: Rockbridge Teacher Arrested on Sexual Assault Charge (July 5 2013) Police say 43-year-old Gregory Staton allegedly traveled to Santa Rosa County and molested the teenager there. He was arrested Wednesday at his home in Fairfield Virginia and is expected to be extradited to Florida to face charges, including traveling to have sex with a minor. Investigators say Staton may have other victims.
