    Engineers, docs, teachers among 1,000 govt servants held for bribes this year

    A number of professionals - including 57 engineers, 27 teachers, 23 doctors and 10 lawyers - are among a thousand people who landed behind bars in bribery cases during the past eight months, indicating how corruption has become deeply entrenched in the system. These professionals, working with various government departments, count among 1,074 persons arrested this year by the State Anti Corruption Bureau. With 268 cases, the Revenue Dept tops the list of corrupt government departments, followed by Home (224 traps), Rural Development (120 traps) and Urban development (66 traps).
