Pasco Co. third grade teacher accused of abusing 8-year-old

A New Port Richey elementary school teacher was arrested for child abuse on an 8-year-old student. Deputies say Chasco Elementary School teacher Danielle Barton, 41, grabbed the student by the arm when he wouldn’t stop smacking his lips, and then dragged him into another classroom and threw him to the ground. According to a sheriff’s office affidavit, the child slid approximately 5 to 7 feet on his chest ultimately striking a cabinet head-first. Deputies: Pasco teacher threw 8-year-old student across classroom

A Pasco County teacher has been arrested after investigators say she threw a student across a classroom. According to an arrest report, Danielle Barton, 42, was working at Chasco Elementary on April 27 when an 8-year-old student began smacking his lips in class. Barton told the student to stop but he continued. That's when investigators say Barton grabbed the student's arm, turned it behind his back, lifted him from his seat and dragged him about 15 feet to a neighboring classroom.
