    According to the arrest warrants, the allegations were first reported to police in 2021, when the victim told one of her teachers, who then relayed details to the state Department of Children and Families.

    After describing the assaults, the victim allegedly told the teacher that “she wishes she had a normal life like other kids” and “didn’t realize at the time that this was wrong.”




    Former Bridgeport man charged with sexually assaulting juvenile in Ansonia, Seymour


    A former Bridgeport man is due in court next month on charges he repeatedly sexually assaulted a girl beginning when she was 7 years old. The assaults allegedly took place at homes in Ansonia and Seymour from 2017 to 2019, according to arrest warrants for the suspect, 42-year-old Melvin Dixon. Dixon faces charges of four counts of first-degree sexual assault, two counts of illegal sexual contact with a minor, and five counts of risk of injury to a minor in two separate cases.
