Former Georgia police officer, investigator accused of child sex crimes

A former law enforcement officer in Georgia is behind bars, accused of sex crimes against a minor. According to the Columbus Police Department, Corey Brand was taken into custody Friday in connection with an investigation that began back in August 2020. Brand previously served with the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office, as an investigator, and a police officer with the Columbus Police Department. Brand is charged with rape, child molestation, aggravated sexual battery, computer or electronic pornography and child exploitation prevention and violation of oath of office.
