    At least six people have been killed in southern Mexico in clashes between police forces and teachers protesting planned education reforms and the arrest of their union leaders. Thousands of teachers from the CNTE teachers’ union took to the streets in several municipalities in the southern state of Oaxaca on Sunday.     Six killed in Mexico clashes between teachers union and police

    Violent clashes between police and members of a radical teachers' union who had blockaded roads in southern Mexico on Sunday left six people dead and more than 100 injured, officials said. The teachers from the National Coordinator of Education Workers are protesting the mandatory testing of teachers and the arrest of union leaders on money laundering and other charges. Clashes took place in several municipalities in Oaxaca. Officials said 53 civilians, 41 federal police agents and 14 state police agents were injured. All the dead were civilians, with two having ties to the union.
