Name: Chad Hunt Age: 40 School: Clear Creek High School, League City, Texas Position: Teacher, football & track coach Victim: Girl, 16 League City Police Department Press Release (1 Dec 2011): High School Coach Found Dead On 11/27/11 League City Police Department Officers received information from a Clear Creek High School student’s parent who suspected their daughter might be involved in an IMPROPER RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN EDUCATOR AND STUDENT. The afternoon of 11/29/11 LCPD Detectives went to the Clear Creek High School to speak with Chad Hunt about the allegation. Mr. Hunt volunteered to come to the League City Police Department where he was formally interviewed and left after the interview was concluded. Detectives were informed by school administrators Mr. Hunt would be placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. In the morning hours on 11/30/11 LCPD Detectives were notified by Brazoria County Sheriff Investigators that Chad Hunt was found deceased in their jurisdiction from what appeared to be a self inflicted gun shot. Hunt was the sole occupant of a red jeep in the area of FM 2403 approximately a ¼ mile north of FM 2917. At this time the League City Police Departments investigation into the IMPROPER RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN EDUCATOR AND STUDENT has been suspended. Sec. 21.12. IMPROPER RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN EDUCATOR AND STUDENT . (a) An employee of a public or private primary or secondary school commits an offense if the employee engages in:(1) sexual contact, sexual intercourse, or deviate sexual intercourse with a person who is enrolled in a public or private primary or secondary school at which the employee works; or(2) conduct described by Section 33.021, with a person described by Subdivision (1), regardless of the age of that person.(b) An offense under this section is a felony of the second degree.(b-1) It is an affirmative defense to prosecution under this section that the actor was the spouse of the enrolled person at the time of the offense.(c) If conduct constituting an offense under this section also constitutes an offense under another section of this code, the actor may be prosecuted under either section or both sections.(d) The name of a person who is enrolled in a public or private primary or secondary school and involved in an improper relationship with an educator as provided by Subsection (a) may not be released to the public and is not public information under Chapter 552, Government Code.
