Permian trainer apologizes in resignation letter April 12 2013 The Permian High School athletic trainer who is under investigation for an inappropriate relationship with a 19-year-old male student apologized in her resignation letter to Ector County ISD, according to the letter received by the Odessa American in a public records request. Collins, 28, resigned on Wednesday at 9:50 a.m. according to the timestamp on the letter. Former ECISD teacher pleads guilty to improper relationship April Collins pled guilty Friday to one count of improper relationship between educator/student. Collins received three years deferred adjudication as punishment and will never be allowed to teach again. GUILTY April 1, 2016 Former Permian High School athletic trainer April Collins pleaded guilty to one count of improper relationship between a student and an educator Friday morning and was sentenced to three years deferred adjudication probation. The almost three-year-old case came to an end in Judge James Rush’s 244th District Court with the plea deal. Collins was also issued a $750 fine and will permanently surrender her teaching certificate as part of her probation.
