With the wedding off, [John] Azabache’s only “I do” Friday came during his arraignment, when Justice Nancy Quinn Koba asked whether he understood the order of protection she issued to keep Azabache away from his not-to-be bride [Amanda Rae DeLuccia, White Plains, New York]. “I do, your honor,” he said, before his handcuffs were briefly unclasped so he could sign the document.​

Ossining village police were contacted Wednesday by the girl’s family, who said she had sexual relations with Azabache twice between March 1 and July 1. The alleged incidents occurred in the village but not during school hours or on any property of the Ossining school district, police said.​

The Journal News reports Azabache was scheduled to be married Friday to a White Plains woman [Amanda Rae DeLuccia]. Azabache was jailed on $50,000 bail and ordered not to contact the student as well as his fiancee and two of her family members because they were "witnesses to events after the fact," according to the judge.​

She said they had sexual relations twice between March and July, not on school property. It’s not clear if she was his student. The attorney for the 31-year-old teacher says his client was not charged with any forcible compulsion. He says the alleged incident involves a minor who is “just under 17.”​

31-year-old John M. Azabache was having an affair with a student between March and July of this year. The student's family found out about the sexual relations and alerted authorities. Azabache turned himself in only hours before he was to be married. Azabache was released on bail and instructed not to contact the student or his fiancee (who, justifiably, is upset).
