Not reporting signs of child abuse ‘should be made a criminal offence’ Failing to report concerns that children are being abused could see teachers, doctors and carers face criminal charges under a controversial proposal. Charities have argued that mandatory reporting is a ‘vital component’ of a functional child protection system that could affect millions of children, the Guardian reports.
