Mesquite ISD superintendent addresses recent arrests of MISD teachers The incidents include the recent arrest of Deanna Reese, 40, a teacher at Poteet High School, who was charged with one count of improper relationship between an educator and student on May 14; the arrest of Mesquite High School football and basketball coach and teacher Nigel Chandler, who was arrested Feb. 18 for having an inappropriate relationship with an 18-year old female student; and the arrest of 34-year-old North Mesquite teacher Luke Whaley, who was charged in April with two counts of sexual assault of a child, since the alleged victim was under the age of 18.
