    Spanish police smash pedophile ring


    Police in Spain have busted a nationwide pedophilia ring and arrested 40 suspects.

    Teachers, engineers and civil servants were among those held, as were unemployed people and pensioners, police said in a statement on Saturday.

    Those in the ring had exchanged child pornography over the internet and used special software to make it hard for police to gain access.

    The arrests were made in 17 provinces, including Madrid, Barcelona, Alicante and Cordoba, after raids in dozens of houses and the seizure of laptops and more than 100 hard drives, DVDs, photos and videos.
