November 10, 2014 BAY CITY, MI — Calling it a horrendous crime, a judge sentenced a 32-year-old former Bay City middle school teacher to serve at least the next seven and a half years in prison after she confessed to having sex with one of her students. Bay County Chief Circuit Judge Kenneth W. Schmidt ordered Sarah M. Raymo on Monday, Nov. 10, to serve 7 years and 6 months to 15 years in prison, with credit for 87 days served, closing a case that started in January. Schmidt sentenced Raymo using the higher end of the court's sentencing guidelines due to the nature of the case, he said.
