Ex-teacher, cop sentenced for sex with student A former teacher and police officer has been sentenced to probation for having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student. 45-year-old Johnny Yelverton was sentenced to three years of probation after the relationship with a Maize Career Academy student. He could be sentenced to 32 months in prison if he violates his probation. He also must register as a sex offender. Yelverton pleaded guilty in December to two counts of unlawful sexual relations.
