    NJ makes it a crime for teachers to have sex with students — even if they're over 18

    Teachers, school bus drivers and other supervisors who have sex with high school students over the age of 18 can be charged with new crimes signed into law Friday by Gov. Phil Murphy. The bill, S-2709, was among nearly two dozen Murphy signed, including one to create a "bill of rights" for sexual assault survivors. The bill concerning high school students was designed primarily to protect pupils with special needs, many of whom do not graduate until after turning 18 years old.
