    DCPP failed to protect Trenton child who took drugs to school, docs reveal

    A state agency entrusted with making sure children are protected in New Jersey “dropped the ball” by allowing a city boy to remain with relatives after the first time he was found with drugs at school last year, legal experts said. Rather than immediately place the boy in foster care, the Department of Children and Families (DCF), which has been under the watch of a federal monitor for the last decade after it was sued for its woeful handling of other child abuse matters, decided to give the boy’s grandmother a second chance.
