    Bills would toughen teacher-student sex law

    A South Jersey legislator wants to bar high school teachers from having sex with adult students. State Sen. Diane Allen, R-Edgewater Park, said Friday she is introducing a bill to bar teachers from sexual relationships with any student regardless of age. She noted current law only bars teacher sex with students who are 17 or younger. “As authority figures, educators have an influence over their students regardless of the student’s age,” Allen said in a statement. “This legislation will make sure that students of all ages are protected from being taken advantage of by a teacher.” Assemblyman Reed Gusciora, D-Mercer, ...
