    N.J. solved its abusive teacher problem, it thought. But a state investigation says it’s wrong.

    The “trash” is still being passed. That’s the conclusion of a State Commission of Investigation report released this week that found teachers accused of abuse or sexual misconduct continue to quietly change jobs, unbeknownst to their new schools. A state law passed in 2018 was supposed to end a culture of silence in schools, forcing administrators to disclose if teachers had resigned or retired while under investigation and ending a cycle known as “passing the trash.” Teachers are hiding abuse and sexual misconduct. N.J. schools are ignoring the law, damning report says.
