    According to the complaint, the investigation began March 4 when a CMU student reported that, while in class, instructor Ranzenberger accessed files from his Dropbox account, a cloud-based storage solution, on his university-issued computer, which appeared to be thumbnails of pornographic images. They were seen by the entire class.

    Possible victim located in case of ex-CMU teacher charged with child porn


    Michigan State Police from the Mount Pleasant Post are helping the U.S. Secret Service with an additional investigation into Mark T. Ranzenberger, a former Central Michigan University faculty member is charged with possessing child pornography. MSP, in a press release, announced that the U.S. Secret Service located a possible victim during its investigation into Ranzenberger on a separate incident and that they directed the victim to the Michigan State Police. The Michigan State Police investigation into the new allegations concern inappropriate contact that occurred several years ago between Ranzenberger and a person, according to the press release.     Ex-journalism teacher at CMU guilty in child porn case

    A man who taught journalism at Central Michigan University has pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography and admitted that he sexually abused a child three times a week between 1995 and 2002. Mark Ranzenberger pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court in Bay City. He faces many years in prison. The investigation began when pornographic images were mistakenly displayed in class with his computer. Ranzenberger was accused of possessing 1,000 images of child porn.
