    More teacher-student relationships reported after new law in effect

    The Texas Education Agency says last fiscal year, 159 Texas teachers' licenses were revoked due to an inappropriate teacher-student relationship. In El Paso, across all three major school districts there are currently two former teachers accused of having an inappropriate teacher-student relationship. Both cases involve teachers who worked for the Socorro Independent School District. In July, before the start of the 2017-2018 school year, 38-year-old Albert Licon, a former band director at Montwood High School, was arrested and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility charged with an improper relationship between educator/student.
