    Dearborn-based charter school management company charged with violating employee rights

    After five months of investigation, the National Labor Relations Board has charged Hamadeh Education Services, a Dearborn-based charter school management company, with unlawfully terminating eight employees at Universal Academy, a Detroit charter school. The employees were fired for participating in concerted activities that the NLRB maintains were protected under federal law. The NLRB is asking that Hamadeh reinstate each of the eight teachers and offer the teachers back pay for any loss of earnings that occurred as result of Hamadeh’s alleged illegal action. If Hamadeh decides not to settle the matter, the NLRB will hold a hearing on Sept. 28. ...
