Mark Steven Mauer, 54, was among 19 men arrested and charged with misdemeanor soliciting prostitution, police said. ...According to the police report, Mauer arrived at the hotel about 7:30 p.m. and met with a female undercover officer. Mauer verbally agreed to pay the woman $100 for a half-hour of "full service," the report said. Mauer then told the woman he left his money in the car and had to go get it, police said. He was arrested when he left the room. When questioned, Mauer reportedly told police he was just "messing around" and didn't intend to return to the room. According to the report, Mauer said "he has done this a couple times in the past, where he calls women and then leaves without doing anything." Police said he had with him $100 and a bottle of unmarked pills that Mauer said were Viagra, a prescription drug used to treat impotence. Tags:

Star Tribune: Hill-Murray football coach Mauer resigns (Feb 27 2013) Mauer served briefly on the St. Paul City Council in 1997, getting named after longtime friend and Council Member Dino Guerin resigned to join the Ramsey County Board. A month later, he was offered a job as an assistant coach at North Dakota State. Mauer was a star quarterback at Harding High School in St. Paul and played football and baseball at the Nebraska. He has also worked as an assistant football coach at Wisconsin and New Mexico State.

He then began to touch and rub her, KARE-11 reports. When he left the room to get the money, police took him into custody. He was later released from jail. The disgraced coach told cops that he was just “messing around” and that it was “stupid” to come down to the hotel. He said that he wasn’t going to come back after he left the room, the Star Tribune reports. Police said that Mauer had come to the hotel armed with Viagra pills. He has been barred from the hotel for a year, according to CBS Minnesota.
