Questioning by police prompted Rockwood substitute teacher to try to harm himself, authorities say The substitute teacher who was questioned by police in the middle of the school day at a Rockwood elementary school was later arrested on a charge related to child pornography. The teacher, Mark E. Yeargain, was detained by police for questioning while at Green Pines Elementary on Wednesday. The questions were related to an investigation by the computer forensics unit. Because Yeargain, 47, of Ballwin, reacted to the investigation by attempting to harm himself, authorities say, he was taken to a local hospital. In the letter, Superintendent Eric Knost says the district has no reason to believe the incident under investigation involves the substitute teacher’s work within the district.
