After several minutes, the children became scared by her behavior, so they used her campus radio to call for help and alert other teachers. Staff fought Lira to get inside the classroom and get the children out, sheriff's officials say. They told authorities Lira showed signs of being on narcotics or a hallucinogen. San Diego Sheriff's Department via ABC 10 News: On 3/25/2015, Linda Lira (31-years-old), was working as an afterschool assistant at Lemon Grove Academy located at 7885 Golden Avenue, when she began acting bizarre and barricaded herself and several children in a classroom. After several minutes, students became fearful of her actions and behavior and used Lira's unattended campus radio to call for help and alert other teachers/staff that something was wrong. Staff briefly fought with Lira to gain access to the classroom and remove children from her reach. After students were evacuated, Lira exhibited multiple signs and symptoms of narcotics/hallucinogen use. While struggling with other school staff, Lira removed her own clothing as one act in a series of bizarre acts. When deputies arrived on scene, Lira had barricaded herself alone in the classroom, upending desks, throwing things throughout the room and undressing/redressing several times. Lira was taken into custody by Sheriff's Deputies and was initially transported to the hospital for evaluation.
