According to a complaint, officers with the Inver Grove Heights Police Department spoke with an adult male On Nov. 29, 2014, after he found inappropriate pictures on his son’s iPad. The boy was 15 years old at the time, and his father found the pictures on the devices “recently deleted” folder. The complaint states the pictures were a close-up of a female’s genitals, a picture of a woman naked from the waist up with no face and a picture of the woman’s backside wearing a thong. The pictures were sent using Instagram. The account used to send the pictures was [Krista Ann] Muccio’s.

The complaint states that through the search warrant, authorities discovered Muccio had been having sexually explicit conversations with the boy in November of 2014. The two exchanged pictures, and she told him how she would perform sexual acts on him.​

A father scanning a folder of recently deleted photos on his son’s iPad triggered an investigation that led Thursday to felony sex-related charges against the boy’s middle school lunch lady. The Dakota County attorney’s office charged Krista Ann Muccio, who turns 42 Friday, with one count of communication with a minor describing sexual conduct and one count of possession of pornographic work involving minors for offenses that allegedly occurred last year.​

An Inver Grove Heights middle school lunch lady [Krista Ann Muccio] has been charged after prosecutors say she sent inappropriate photos of herself and explicit messages to a 15-year-old boy. She’s also accused of having pornographic photos of the boy ... Prosecutors say the crimes happened in November 2014 while Muccio was employed as a lunchroom assistant at a school in ISD 199. The pictures were exchanged via Instagram.​

Krista Ann Muccio ... shared explicit photos with the teenager through Instagram's direct message feature and asked for "something in return," prompting the student to share explicit photos with her, according to a criminal complaint. The teenager had known Muccio as the lunch lady since the eighth grade, and she began communicating with him on Instagram last June, the complaint said.​

According to a criminal complaint, the boy's father's suspicious were aroused when he found inappropriate photos on his son's iPad in the "recently deleted" album. The pictures showed "a close up of a female's genitals," bare breasts, and a third was "a close up [of] the female's backside wearing a thong." The photos were sent to the student from a "Spartanmom8300" Instagram account. The student told authorities that [Krista Ann] Muccio started communicating with him on Instagram the previous summer. At one point she sent him a picture of a female in a swimming suit, and things escalated from there.

Under questioning, Muccio admitted to sending the student "stuff online" and "girls in bikinis." She said that while the student sent her a picture of his genitals, she didn't reciprocate. But evidence acquired with the help of a search warrant didn't support Muccio's version of events.​
