In most jurisdictions, no contact with the victim is one the preconditions for release on bail, and violating that lands you back in jail. One has to wonder why that is not happening here?

On Saturday she went before a judge on a charge of harboring him as a runaway. Police say they found him Friday night with Murray at her father’s home. He tried to exit out the back door ... Yet her bond has not been revoked, since harboring a runaway is still a misdemeanor. A judge set it at $100,000 and ordered Murray to give up her passport. It is because at one point she and the boy allegedly planned to flee to Mexico.​

Teacher Kathryn Murray, 29, who is due to go on trial later this year for having sex with an unidentified 15-year-old student, may have tried to elope with the teen to Mexico, reports KHOU-TV (video below). Murray was found with the teenager, now 16, at the home that she shares with her father in Houston, Texas, despite a court order banning any contact. Murray was ordered to surrender her passport when she appeared before a judge in Houston, Texas on Saturday. Murray faces up to 20 years in jail for having sex with the boy at his home, in her classroom and a hotel. Murray was arrested again and appeared before a judge to face a new charge of harboring a runaway, as the boy had been reported as a "runaway" by his parents.​

Former Memorial Middle School teacher Kathryn Murray, 29, has been charged with harboring a runaway. She was out on bond on a sexual assault of a child charge when the new charge was filed ... On Saturday, police went to the home where Murray had been staying after getting a tip from a private investigator that the teen, who is now 16, was staying with her. Detectives said the teen's parents told them that the boy had left home without permission. Officers surrounded the home where Murray was staying, knocked the door for a while and shined bright lights into the house. The teen tried to leave through a back door, but police caught him. Detectives said he told them that Murray was inside the home.​

[Kathryn] Murray was out of jail on bond, though required to wear a GPS device, and was still restricted by a restraining order from going near the teen. But court documents allege Murray was harboring the same teen, who ran away from home without his parent's consent, and allowed him to remain in a home she occupied. She's now facing a new charge of harboring a runaway child. She was arrested on Saturday.​

The boy, now 16-years-old, was 15 when he began his alleged relationship with Murray. The eighth-grade teacher was allegedly planning a trip to Mexico with the teen, and was found in her father’s home with the student after the court banned her from any contact with him.​
