Teacher's license on probation

A former private school teacher with a record of shoplifting from Manatee County stores will face sanctions on her educator's license, according to the state. As part of her punishment, Julia Katherine Murphy will have to pay a $750 fine and her license will be put on probation for two years, according to the Florida Office of Professional Practices, which oversees teachers' licenses. Murphy, who taught Spanish and math, finished her last year of teaching at Sarasota Christian School during the 2012-13 year, principal Jeffrey Shank said.
