    Evans Middle School chorus teacher resigns

    Evans Middle School Chorus teacher Johnny Holloway resigned from the Coweta County School System on Monday and was charged with possession of marijuana by the Newnan Police Department on Tuesday.

    Former teacher accused of doing drugs with students

    Johnny Holloway recently resigned from his position as a chorus teacher at Evans Middle School in Coweta County ... There was a firestorm of protest when Holloway resigned his job over what some parents at the time had claimed was a trivial charge of misdemeanor pot possession.

    According to police, parents at the start of this school year contacted education officials with allegations that the beloved teacher was using marijuana with his middle school students. Police say Holloway smoked pot with his students while he drove them to a school function ... Newnan police say that Holloway allegedly sold marijuana to one of his students. One September 2, a Coweta grand jury indicted Holloway on charges of marijuana distribution and delinquency of a minor.
