    Jeffrey Yoshitake, 42, was taken into custody Friday and charged with one felony count of lewd acts with a minor. He’s being held on $100,000 bail. Yoshitake allegedly had an inappropriate relationship with the alleged female victim, who was a former math student, for approximately seven years, starting from the time she was 15.

    San Gabriel Valley Tribune: Garfield Elementary math teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with former student (Mar 3 2014)

    A math teacher from Garfield Elementary was arrested for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a former student for seven years, police said Monday. Jeffrey Yoshitake, 42, of Monterey Park was booked Friday on suspicion of one felony count of lewd acts with a child. He is out on $100,000 bail.

    Yoshitake was the child’s math teacher. The two kept in contact afterward and the relationship started when the alleged victim was 15 and in high school, Cuevas said. She was then living in Alhambra. The relationship lasted until 2012, he added. [Monterey Park Police Lt. Bill] Cuevas said the alleged victim, who is now in her mid 20s, told police about the relationship on Thursday. “At the time she didn’t believe it was wrong. (He) took measures to reassure her the relationship was OK,” Cuevas said. “She’s an adult and thinking about it now, realized it (the relationship) was unlawful.”

    Jeffrey Yoshitake, 42, is accused of having a sexual relationship with a former female student from the time she was 15 years old into adulthood, police said. Yoshitake is the girl's former math teacher. The relationship lasted about seven years, according to police. Yoshitake was charged with one felony count of lewd acts with a minor and was held on $100,000 bond.

    Jeffrey Yoshitake, 42, was taken into custody on Friday on suspicion of lewd acts with a child, Lt. Bill Cuevas of the Monterey Park Police Department confirmed. Yoshitake allegedly began the relationship with his former elementary school math student when she was in high school, Cuevas confirmed. The alleged victim, now in her mid 20′s, recently told police her relationship with Yoshitake began when she was 15 and lasted until 2012, according to Cuevas. “At the time she didn’t believe it was wrong.     Felony sex trial against Garfield Elementary School teacher postponed

    A preliminary trial for a Garfield Elementary School teacher accused of having a seven-year sexual relationship with a former student was postponed on Monday. Jeffrey Hideki Yoshitake, 43, was placed on administrative leave on Feb. 28, a day after the alleged victim reported her case to the Monterey Park Police Department. Authorities notified AUSD on Feb. 28, according to the district. Bill Seki, Yoshitake’s attorney, told Judge Don Umhofer there was a lot of investigation still needed and asked that the preliminary trial be postponed until June 30.
