    Jefferson Parish school officials say teachers' views are heard through teacher council

    In response to complaints that Jefferson Parish public school officials ignore teachers' concerns, school system officials on Monday highlighted the system's Teacher Voice Advisory Council. They said it lets teachers opine on key policies. Teachers told NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune on Thursday that the School Board's 2012 rejection of employee collective bargaining, and board members' failure to respond to teacher complaints, make them feel ignored. The complaints came during a discussion involving 12 teachers, Jefferson Federation of Teachers representatives and school employees who gathered to talk about the school system's overall direction.
