    Maharashtra: Jalna teacher arrested for bid to end life

    A day after a teacher fromJalna, Gajanan Khaire, threatened to jump off the MLA Hostel over grants for unaided schools and unpaid dues of contractual teachers, Marine Drive police arrested him for allegedly attempting to commit suicide and flouting the lockdown rules. “He is mentally fit,” said a cop. Later, a court granted Khair bail for Rs 7,500. Under IPC Section 309, it is a criminal offence to attempt to take one’s own life; the penalty is up to one-year jail or fine.
