    DCHS teacher arreseted for alleged sexual assault of female student


    On Wednesday, June 11, 2014, Drew Central High School Teacher Helen Banks, 57, of Monticello was arrested by authorities with the Drew County Sheriff's Office and Arkansas State Police. Banks was interviewed by authorities stemming from an investigation which alleged that Banks was having inappropriate contact and communication with a 16-year-old female student. Banks admitted to the allegations during the interview, she was booked into the Drew County Detention Facility and has since bonded out on a $25,000 commercial bond.     Monticello Teacher Arrested for “Inappropriate Contact” with Student

    Monticello -- Police say 57-year-old Helen Banks of Monticello, is charged with 2nd degree sexual assault. Police say a 16-year-old female student at Drew High School, informed them that she had been touched by the teacher on numerous occasions in her private areas. She also informed police that the teacher had kissed her. Authorities add the teacher and student were in constant contact via email.
