    Former teacher claims excessive force used by police officer and K9

    A former teacher filed a federal lawsuit against the city of Newark and police officer who handled a K9 that bit her last spring. Ashley Zuress was arrested last March after police stopped her and her boyfriend for a traffic violation and her boyfriend ran from the car. Zuress said no officer approached her so she thought it was okay to slide into the driver's seat and head home.
