GoFundMe will refund donations to family of N.J. cop now accused of killing his infant daughter

When Catherine and Daniel Bannister’s baby girl stopped breathing and was hospitalized in critical condition late last year, generous donors poured more than $17,000 in a GoFundMe account to help the young family of four. Daniel Bannister, 31, was an Ewing police officer and Catherine Bannister, 29, a kindergarten teacher at a Trenton school. The “Hope for Hailey Rose” GoFundMe campaign was launched by a family friend two days after the 3-month-old was hospitalized in critical condition on Dec. 5. Hailey died less than a week later. But now that both parents have been charged in connection with Hailey’s death, ...

Hailey Rose Bannister died in December, days after she was admitted to the hospital suffering from a heart attack, broken ribs, fractured skull and a bleeding brain. The death was considered by investigators to be suspicious from the start. Seven months later, Daniel Bannister Jr., a police officer in Ewing, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with his baby's murder. His wife, charter school teacher Catherine Bannister, was charged with second-degree child endangerment. Prosecutors ...

NJ cop accused of slowly killing baby had ‘issues bonding,’ mom says

Prosecutors say a three-month-old girl was repeatedly beaten and injured by her police officer father while her mother did everything she could to avoid fleeing and finding help for her dying child. The officer, meanwhile, tried to blame the deadly injuries on the baby’s 2-year-old brother, officials said in court documents recently obtained by New Jersey 101.5. Daniel Bannister, the 31-year-old township cop arrested July 17, was ordered this week to be held in jail without bail as he awaits trial on a first-degree murder charge stemming from the December death of baby Hailey Rose. His 29-year-old wife, Catherine, has ...

Retired Ewing cop says department ignored red flags in hiring accused killer Daniel Bannister

A retired township cop claimed in a bombshell interview that the officer who conducted a background investigation into Daniel Bannister was not entirely forthcoming with critical details she learned about the now-suspended township cop’s troubled past in a report later handed over to the chief and top brass before Bannister was hired. Bannister, who is accused of killing his infant daughter Hailey, was apparently involved in a scuffle with a former supervisor and was rejected for jobs by two police departments, prior to being hired by Ewing in 2017. The background investigating officer — identified by the retired officer as ...
