    Local History: Dickson City man acquitted in fatal shooting of cop

    Dickson City police Officer William Novak went to the Dickson City School Board meeting to help keep the peace. Instead, he was shot to death by a school director. The mood in the Midvalley town was tense in September 1931, especially for those responsible for decisions at the schools. A hotly contested primary election all but assured that two Republican school directors — board President M.C. Donnelly and Joseph Kedjeski — would not win reelection.
