Houston Chronicle: Spring teacher accused of Facebook child porn scam on students (Aug 27 2013) Derrick Allan Gossett, 32, has been charged with three counts of possession of child pornography, and one count each of online solicitation of a minor, promotion of child pornography, and online impersonation, investigators said.A warrant has been issued for Gossett's arrest. An undercover probe by the constable's High Tech Crimes Unit determined that Gossett impersonated a juvenile female on Facebook to encourage the boy to send nude images of himself, according to a press release from the constable's office. "The Facebook profile was allegedly engineered and operated so that a 12-year-old boy believed he was conversing with a juvenile female, whom he knew as a former classmate of his," the release states. Further investigation identified Gossett as the Facebook poster. A search warrant on Gossett's home yielded several images of nude boys, whom who he knew via his work within the Spring Independent School District, investigators said.

He sent students and former students naked pictures of that were supposedly girl. He asked for and received naked pictures of several boys, boys Gossestt knew personally. Precinct four deputy constable found out about it when one of the boys parents grew suspicous at the lack of detail on the female students profile ... Tuesday morning constables searched his home and seized computers and evidence and even got a confession from Gossett ...

KHOU: DA lists 156 possible victims in child porn investigation of Spring ISD teacher (Aug 29 2013) The Harris County District Attorney’s office has made a list of 156 possible victims of a Spring Independent School District teacher who resigned after facing child pornography charges. The new details came out Thursday as Derrick Allan Gossett, 32, a former Anderson Elementary music teacher, appeared in court to face the charges. KHOU 11 News has also learned that Derrick Gossett was employed at a daycare about 40 miles south of Anderson Elementary. Parents at Ambassador Christian Daycare School said they received a letter on Wednesday.
ABC Local KTRK: Officials fear more than 150 victims of child pornography case involving music teacher (Aug 29 2013) Police now believe Gossett, 32, a music teacher who taught at Anderson Elementary School in Spring ISD, may have sexually victimized more than 150 children, possibly even secretly videotaping them ... Child Exploitation Prosecutor Lacey Johnson explained, "Mr. Gossett created a fake Facebook profile pretending to a be a former student of his. She is identified be her initials JR. And then he used that online fake profile pretending to be her to solicit child pornography from underage boys." Johnson says Anderson students may have been on camera without even knowing it. "We also have developed evidence that he had set up some sort of camera to record the children in his classroom," she said. "We don't believe that there's anything that would be child pornography on there but of course it was concerning." Parents tell us Gossett also worked off and on at the Ambassador Christian Day Care and School in southeast Houston. The director there says Gossett hasn't been around children there for many years and had no private access to buildings.

U.S. Attorney's Office, Southern District of Texas: Teacher Arrested on Federal Child Pornography Charges [Press Release] (Aug 9 2013) Derrick Gossett, 32, of Humble, has been arrested and charged with two counts of production of child pornography, announced United States Attorney Kenneth Magidson. At the time of the alleged offense, he was a music teacher at Anderson Elementary School in the Spring Independent School District (ISD). Originally arrested on state charges, Gossett was taken into custody on these allegations on Friday, Sept, 6, 2013. He made his initial appearance just a short time ago, at which time U.S. Magistrate Judge George Hanks ordered him into custody pending further criminal proceedings. He is set for a counsel determination hearing Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 10:00 a.m. before Judge Hanks. According to the criminal complaint filed on Sept. 6, Gossett allegedly used a Facebook profile in an effort solicit sexually explicit photographs that constituted child pornography from young males. The complaint further alleges he used images he received from at least one victim in an effort to extort additional images. Authorities obtained a search warrant for Gossett’s residence, at which time a laptop computer, several thumb drives, cell phones and digital cameras were seized. One external portable hard drive, found in a lock box inside Gosset’s residence, was forensically analyzed and is alleged to contain more than 150 files with images depicting different young males, ranging in age from I 2 to I 7 years old and in various stages of undress.
