Law enforcement began the investigation May 15 after being contacted by Troy Ferguson, interim superintendent of the St. Francis School District. North metro teacher under investigation after police find thousands of images on computer The teacher, who was first hired by District 916 in 1999, was placed on paid leave in May. Troy Ferguson, St. Francis schools interim superintendent, said Tuesday that he launched a district investigation in May when the teacher was seen with two young students sitting on his lap. Ferguson ordered the teacher’s computer searched. The St. Francis technology coordinator discovered about 3,000 photographs. Teacher Investigated After Photos Of Students Found On Computer The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office says there is a criminal investigation underway into a contracted teacher for St. Francis and Spring Lake Park schools. According to Anoka County Sheriff’s Department Commander Paul Sommer, the investigation began after the St. Francis School District Interim Superintendent Troy Ferguson reported some concerning conduct that was alleged against the contracted teacher, identified as 66-year-old David Wayne Harrell of Chaska, Minn. Anoka County Teacher Under Investigation after Allegations of Misconduct David Harrell was a contracted teacher who worked with hearing-impaired students in St. Francis. He also worked for the Spring lake Park School District. Authorities say St. Francis Interim Superintendent Troy Ferguson contacted them about Harrell's conduct with young students. The 47-year-old was apparently seen with a young student on his lap, according to Commander Paul Sommer. Harrell was placed on leave shortly after and no longer had access to students.
