A Venture High School teacher in Coeur d'Alene, Daniel Taylor, is charged with four different felonies for the sexual abuse of a minor. Taylor is charged with felony rape, forcible sexual penetration with a foreign object, as well as lewd conduct and sexual abuse of a minor under 16. No bond has been posted. Taylor's first court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday at two in the afternoon. He's currently housed in the Kootenai County Jail.​

A judge has set a Coeur d'Alene man's bond at $50,000 on charges he raped a young family member ... Other than two speeding tickets, Taylor has no criminal history in Idaho. In Colorado, however, he has a criminal history that includes misdemeanor domestic violence charges and a conviction for violating a protection order. The charges stem from a fight with his then-wife while Taylor was holding their young son.​

A Coeur d’Alene science teacher faced a judge Tuesday accused of raping a child. The judge ordered that Daniel Taylor be held on a $50,000 bond. Taylor was charged with two counts of lewd conduct and one count of rape. Court documents stated the alleged crime took place in October 2012, but was not reported until December 2013. Taylor was arrested Monday after a one week long investigation.​

A 32-year-old science teacher at Venture High School could face up to life in prison if found guilty of sexual abuse charges filed Monday in Kootenai County. At his first appearance in district court on Tuesday, Daniel Taylor was told by Judge James Stow that he is being charged with two counts of lewd conduct with a child under the age of 16 and one count of rape. Sgt. Christie Wood of the Coeur d'Alene Police Department said the agency learned of the allegations against Taylor last week. Wood added that the alleged victim was 5 years old at the time of the first incident and will soon turn 7.​

School leaders in northern Idaho are tightening up their screening protocols after a teacher at a Coeur d'Alene high school with a criminal history was charged with sex crimes against a child. Daniel Taylor, 32, a science teacher at Venture High School, was arrested Monday after prosecutors said he abused a 5-year-old child. He has not yet entered a plea and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Dec. 31. Coeur d'Alene School District spokeswoman Laura Rumpler told the Coeur d'Alene Press that Taylor was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the court case. She said she couldn't talk about specific details involving the district's decision to hire Taylor in 2011, but said district officials were examining the hiring process and have already enacted stricter background checks for potential employees.​
