    Maria was having a hard time calming down at her elementary school in Waterbury.     Waterbury public schools called police on children 200 times in six months, Connecticut’s child advocate says

    Waterbury’s pre-K through 8th grade schools called the police on children at least 198 times from Sept. 2018 to March 2019, the state Office of the Child Advocate found in a report released Tuesday. A total of 36 calls ended in police arresting a student, the report says, which typically meant that police handcuffed the child before bringing them to the police station.
