Dee Ann Alderson says she did not intend to bring a weapon into Riverside Academy on March 15. But Alderson, the mother of a freshman at the Buffalo high school, was able to take a tactical knife through school security on her way to meet with Principal Maria Conrad and other administrators to address a disciplinary action against her son. She said she carries the knife for self-defense due to past dangerous situations in the Riverside neighborhood.
