Tuscon Citizen: Ex-Goodyear teacher sentenced to 1 year, lifetime probation for sexual conduct with teen (Aug 17 2012) A former teacher at a Goodyear high school has been sentenced to a year in jail after he was found guilty of sexual conduct with a minor ... Bizzell was sentenced last week to one year in jail and lifetime probation. He must also register as a sex offender. As part of the plea agreement, Bizzell was found guilty of three counts of sexual conduct with a minor, said Vincent Funari, a Maricopa County Superior Court spokesman. ... A lost cellphone led to Bizzell’s arrest. A student at the Goodyear high school found a cellphone that belonged to the teenager and tried to identify the owner by looking through pictures and messages. The student found “sexually explicit text messages” from a person named Brian as well as text messages soliciting sexual acts, court documents indicate. The student alerted school officials, who then contacted Goodyear police. The girl’s parents confirmed to police that their daughter lost her phone. They gave investigators the girl’s laptop, as well as the girl’s new cellphone. The student told police that she had numerous sexual encounters with Bizzell during school hours, on and off the school’s campus, between October and December in 2011, Goodyear police said. Bizzell was arrested at his Avondale home.
