    Aurangabad: Cop killed in stone-pelting, CM Devendra Fadnavis orders probe

    Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has ordered a probe into the incident in Aurangabad in which a railway police head constable, Rahul Kamble, lost his life after a teachers’ protest turned violent and led to stone-pelting on Tuesday. State Education Minister Vinod Tawde informed newspersons about the probe Wednesday. Tawde claimed the violent protestors were ‘goons of education barons’. “Teachers can’t dish out the kind of abusive language that was being used,” the minister said. The Aurangabad Police, meanwhile, arrested 21 persons in connection with the case. Those arrested were sent to police custody for five days, the police said. Tawde ...

    50 teachers arrested on rioting charge

    The Aurangabad police on Wednesday arrested 50 teachers and lodged cases against more than 250 for allegedly rioting while staging a protest march against the Devendra Fadnavis government demanding release of their long-pending dues. On Tuesday, teachers from unaided schools took to the streets in protest against the government’s failure to give them their dues. Cabinet meet: The march was especially planned as the State Cabinet had convened in Aurangabad for the first time in eight years.     The Aurangabad police on Wednesday arrested 50 teachers and lodged cases against over 250 others for allegedly rioting and staging a protest march on Tuesday against the State government, demanding release of their long-pending dues.     Teachers seek politicians' help in reducing sections for jailed colleagues

    The members associated with the Maharashtra State (permanently) unaided schools action committee are seeking help of politicians in order to reduce the sections imposed on their jailed colleagues in Aurangabad. The members met with the Rajyasabha MP Sambhaji Chhatrapati and MLA Rajesh Kshirsagar on Saturday to take the matter forward.     The 12 teachers who were arrested under on October 4 were granted judicial custody by a local court on Monday. The police had arrested 59 teachers after a group of teachers resorted to stone pelting against police when they stopped them from moving towards the venue of Cabinet meeting at divisional commissionerate. The 47 remining accused were granted interim regular bail. The accused have been slapped with charges of Preventon of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984, Criminal Law (Amendment) Act 1932 and under sections of the Bombay Police Act.
