She planned to attend to show support for the Black Lives Matter movement, despite the risk to her health and safety. A little after noon on Saturday, she showed her ticket to police and stepped into the outdoor area cordoned off for the event. When ...

Tulsan sues city, Trump campaign over her arrest before president's rally at BOK Center

A Tulsa woman filed a lawsuit Tuesday against the city and former President Donald Trump’s campaign alleging multiple civil rights violations in connection with her arrest before Trump’s rally last summer. The lawsuit from Sheila Buck claims Trump’s campaign, through then-manager Brad Parscale, had no legal basis to give the Tulsa Police Department power to arrest Buck the morning of June 20. Buck, an art teacher at a Tulsa Catholic school, was shown being arrested while wearing a T-shirt that said “I Can’t Breathe” — a reference to the deaths of George Floyd in Minnesota and Eric Garner in New ...

Tulsa City Council delays action on settlement with woman arrested outside 2020 Trump rally

City councilors took no action Wednesday to settle a lawsuit filed by a former elementary school art teacher alleging that the city, two police officers and other parties violated her First Amendment rights outside the BOK Center before then-President Donald Trump’s 2020 campaign rally. The federal lawsuit, filed by Sheila Buck, 65, alleges that she was arrested and then removed from a cordoned-off area outside the arena by Tulsa police officers at the direction of the Trump campaign because she was wearing a T-shirt with the words “I Can’t Breathe” on the front. Buck, who had a ticket to the ...
